H.F. 542 Section 1. Section 96.4, subsection 4, paragraph c, Code 1 2017, is amended to read as follows: 2 c. If the individual has drawn benefits in any benefit 3 year, the individual must during or subsequent to that year, 4 work in and be paid wages for insured work totaling at least 5 two hundred fifty dollars eight times the individual’s weekly 6 benefit amount , as a condition to receive benefits in the next 7 benefit year. 8 Sec. 2. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act takes effect July 2, 2017. 9 EXPLANATION 10 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 11 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 12 This bill increases the amount of wages an individual who 13 has drawn unemployment benefits in a benefit year must be paid 14 for insured work during or subsequent to that year in order to 15 be eligible to receive benefits in the next benefit year.
