this

with

the

of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
adds
a
substance
to
the
controlled
substance
7
schedules.

The
bill
classifies
U-47700,
commonly
known
as
“pink”,
9
as
a
schedule
I
opiate
controlled
substance.
A
schedule
I
10
controlled
substance
has
a
high
potential
for
abuse
and
has
no
11
accepted
medical
use
in
the
United
States
or
lacks
accepted
12
safety
for
use
in
treatment
under
medical
supervision.
13
Pursuant
to
Code
section
124.401(1)(c)(8),
it
would
be
14
a
class
“C”
felony
for
any
unauthorized
person
to
violate
15
a
provision
of
Code
section
124.401
involving
a
controlled
16
substance
classified
in
schedule
I
pursuant
to
the
bill.
A
17
class
“C”
felony
is
punishable
by
confinement
for
no
more
18
than
10
years
and
a
fine
of
at
least
$1,000
but
not
more
than
19
$10,000.

If
a
person
possesses
a
controlled
substance
classified
21
as
a
schedule
I
controlled
substance
in
violation
of
Code
22
section
124.401(5)
as
a
first
offense,
the
person
commits
a
23
serious
misdemeanor.
A
serious
misdemeanor
is
punishable
by
24
confinement
for
no
more
than
one
year
and
a
fine
of
at
least
25
$315
but
not
more
than
$1,875.
