124.552,
subsection

Code
2017,
is
amended
to
read
as
follows:

Each
licensed
pharmacy
that
dispenses
controlled
substances

identified
pursuant
to
section
124.554,
subsection
1
,
4
paragraph
“g”
,
to
patients
in
the
state,
and
each
licensed
5
pharmacy
located
in
the
state
that
dispenses
such
controlled
6
substances
identified
pursuant
to
section
124.554,
subsection
7
1
,
paragraph
“g”
,
to
patients
inside
or
outside
the
state,
8
unless
specifically
excepted
in
this
section
or
by
rule,
shall
9
submit
the
following
prescription
information
to
the
program
10
every
day
:

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with
13
the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

Currently,
pharmacies
licensed
under
Code
chapter
155A
that
15
dispense
controlled
substances
are
required
to
submit
certain
16
prescription
information
to
the
board
of
pharmacy’s
information
17
program
for
drug
prescribing
and
dispensing.
Board
of
pharmacy
18
rules
specify
that
information
must
be
submitted
on
a
weekly
19
basis.
This
bill
requires
the
information
to
be
submitted
20
every
day.
21
According
to
Code
section
124.558,
a
pharmacist,
pharmacy,
22
prescribing
practitioner,
or
agent
of
a
pharmacist
or
23
prescribing
practitioner
who
knowingly
fails
to
comply
with
the
24
bill
shall
be
subject
to
disciplinary
action
by
the
appropriate
25
professional
licensing
board.
