H.F. 441 Section 1. Section 92.6, subsection 1, Code 2017, is amended 1 by adding the following new paragraph: 2 NEW PARAGRAPH . j. Laundering, except for the use of a 3 washing machine which has a capacity of less than ten cubic 4 feet and which is designed to reach an internal temperature 5 which does not exceed two hundred twelve degrees Fahrenheit. 6 Sec. 2. Section 92.8, subsection 18, Code 2017, is amended 7 to read as follows: 8 18. Occupations involving the operation of laundry, dry 9 cleaning , or dyeing machinery. 10 EXPLANATION 11 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 12 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 13 Current law prohibits persons under 18 years of age from 14 employment in occupations involving the operation of laundry 15 machinery. This bill provides that only persons under 16 16 years of age are prohibited from employment in laundering 17 occupations, but may be employed in laundering which consists 18 of the use of certain washing machines specified in the bill. 19 -1- LSB 1394HV (3) 87 je/nh 1/ 1
