H.F. 403 Section 1. Section 22.7, Code 2017, is amended by adding the 1 following new subsection: 2 NEW SUBSECTION . 70. Personal information in records of 3 government bodies relating to an identified or identifiable 4 individual who is a volunteer for a government body except as 5 otherwise provided by law. For purposes of this subsection, 6 “volunteer” means an individual who is not an employee of the 7 government body as employee is defined in section 91A.2. 8 EXPLANATION 9 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 10 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 11 This bill amends Code chapter 22 governing open records. 12 Code section 22.7 is amended to provide that personal 13 information in records of government bodies relating to a 14 volunteer for a government body is considered a confidential 15 record unless otherwise provided by law. The bill defines a 16 “volunteer” as an individual who is not an employee of the 17 government body as that term is defined in Code section 91A.2 18 governing wage payment collection. 19 -1- LSB 2443YH (3) 87 ec/rh 1/ 1
