Section
279.28,
Code
2017,
is
amended
to
read
as

follows:

279.28
Insurance
——
supplies
——
textbooks.

1.
The
board
of
directors
of
a
school
district
may
provide
4
and
pay
out
of
the
general
fund
to
insure
school
property
a
sum
5
as
necessary,
and
may
purchase
dictionaries,
library
books,
6
including
books
for
the
purpose
of
teaching
vocal
music,
maps,
7
charts,
and
apparatus
for
the
use
of
the
schools
as
deemed
8
necessary
by
the
board
of
directors
for
each
school
building
9
under
its
charge;
and
may
furnish
schoolbooks
textbooks
to
10
indigent
children
when
they
are
likely
to
be
deprived
of
the
11
proper
benefits
of
the
school
unless
so
aided.

The
board
of
directors
of
each
school
district
shall
13
prohibit
administrators
and
teachers
from
granting
extra
14
academic
credit
to
students
who
contribute
school
supplies
for

use
in
the
classroom.
