1.
SEX

GROUP.
The
1
department
of
corrections
shall
lead
a
work
group
to
study
2
the
issue
of
housing
for
the
placement
of
aging
sex
offenders
3
who
qualify
for
release
from
the
custody
of
the
department
of
4
corrections
or
the
department
of
human
services.
The
work
5
group
shall
consist
of
representatives
of
the
departments
6
of
inspections
and
appeals,
public
health,
and
justice,
the
7
department
on
aging,
the
state
public
defender,
the
office
of
8
ombudsman,
the
office
of
long-term
care
ombudsman,
the
judicial
9
branch,
Iowa
legal
aid,
and
AARP.
The
work
group
shall
meet
to
10
study
this
issue
and
submit
a
report
to
the
general
assembly
11
by
January
2019,
with
recommendations
containing
housing
12
options
for
the
placement
of
aging
sex
offenders
who
qualify
13
for
release
from
custody.

The

of

does
not
constitute
agreement
with

explanation’s
substance

the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
relates
to
studying
placement
options
for
sex
18
offenders
who
qualify
for
release
from
the
custody
of
the
19
department
of
human
services
or
the
department
of
corrections.

The
bill
provides
that
the
department
of
corrections
21
shall
lead
a
work
group
to
study
the
issue
of
housing
for
the
22
placement
of
aging
sex
offenders
who
qualify
for
release
from
23
the
custody
of
the
department
of
corrections
or
the
department
24
of
human
services.
The
work
group
shall
meet
to
study
this
25
issue
and
submit
a
report
to
the
general
assembly
by
January
26
2019,
with
recommendations
containing
housing
options
for
the
27
placement
of
aging
sex
offenders
who
qualify
for
release
from
28
custody.
