1.
Section
103.12A,
Code
2017,
is
amended
to
read

as
follows:

103.12A
Residential
electrician
and
residential
master

electrician
license
——
qualifications.

1.
In
order
to
be
licensed
by
the
board
as
a
residential
5
master
electrician,
an
applicant
shall
do
all
of
the
following:
6
a.
File
an
application
and
pay
the
application
fee
as
7
established
by
the
board,
which
application
shall
establish
8
that
the
person
meets
the
minimum
education
and
experience
9
requirements
adopted
by
the
board.
10
b.
Pass
a
residential
master
electrician
examination
11
approved
by
the
board.
12
c.
Provide
the
board
with
evidence
of
having
completed
at
13
least
four
years
of
practical
experience
performing
residential
14
electrical
work.

The
board
may
by
rule
provide
for
the
issuance
of
a
16
residential
electrician
license
,
and
may
by
rule
provide
for
17
the
issuance
of
a
residential
master
electrician
license
.

a.
A
residential
electrician
license
or
residential
master

electrician
license
,
if
established
by
the
board,
shall
be
20
issued
to
applicants
who
meet
qualifications
determined
by
the
21
board,
and
shall
be
valid
for
the
performance
of
residential
22
installations,
subject
to
limitations
or
restrictions
23
established
by
the
board.

A
person
who,
on
or
after
July
1,
2009,
holds
25
a
special
electrician
license
authorizing
residential
26
electrical
installation,
granted
pursuant
to
section
103.13
,

shall
be
eligible
for
conversion
of
that
special
license
to

either
a
residential
electrician
license
or
a
residential
29
master
electrician
license,
if
established
by
the
board,
in
30
accordance
with
the
requirements
of
this
section
and
procedures

established
by
the
board.

person

board

class

journeyman
electrician
or
a
class
B
journeyman
electrician,

or
as
a

master
electrician
or
a

required
to
hold
a
residential

electrician
or
residential
master
electrician
license
to

perform
any
type
of
residential
installation
authorized
for
a

person
licensed
pursuant
to
this
section
.

The
board
may
reject
an
application
for
licensure

under
this
section
from
an
applicant
who
would
be
subject
6
to
suspension,
revocation,
or
reprimand
pursuant
to
section
7
103.35
.

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
relates
to
the
qualifications
for
licensure
as
a
12
residential
master
electrician.

Under
current
Code
section
103.12A,
the
electrical
examining
14
board
may
by
rule
provide
for
the
issuance
of
a
residential
15
electrician
license
or
a
residential
master
electrician
16
license.
17
The
bill
provides
qualifications
necessary
for
a
person
18
to
be
licensed
as
a
residential
master
electrician
by
the
19
board.
To
be
licensed
as
a
residential
master
electrician,
20
an
applicant
must
file
an
application
and
pay
the
application
21
fee
as
established
by
the
board,
pass
a
residential
master
22
electrician
examination
approved
by
the
board,
and
provide
the
23
board
with
evidence
of
having
completed
at
least
four
years
of
24
practical
experience
performing
residential
electrical
work.
25
The
bill
maintains
the
authority
of
the
board
to
require
26
by
rule
the
qualifications
necessary
to
be
licensed
as
a
27
residential
electrician.
