H.F. 2099 Section 1. Section 155A.44, subsection 4, paragraph a, Code 1 2018, is amended to read as follows: 2 a. Vaccination and immunization of patients ages six 3 years through seventeen years shall be limited to vaccines or 4 immunizations for influenza , meningococcal disease, and other 5 emergency immunizations or vaccines in response to a public 6 health emergency. 7 EXPLANATION 8 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 9 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 10 This bill authorizes a licensed pharmacist, in accordance 11 with rules adopted by the board of pharmacy, to administer, in 12 addition to the vaccines or immunizations for influenza and 13 other emergency immunizations or vaccines in response to a 14 public health emergency, the immunization against meningococcal 15 disease to patients ages six through seventeen. By reference 16 under the bill, patients ages 18 years and older may also 17 receive these same vaccinations or immunizations administered 18 by a licensed pharmacist. Code section 139A.8, immunization of 19 children, prohibits a person from being enrolled in school in 20 the seventh grade or twelfth grade in Iowa without evidence of 21 adequate immunization against meningococcal disease. 22 -1- LSB 5468YH (1) 87 pf/rh 1/ 1
