H.F. 2085 Section 1. Section 285.1, subsection 1, paragraph a, Code 1 2018, is amended by adding the following new subparagraph: 2 NEW SUBPARAGRAPH . (5) Notwithstanding subparagraph 3 (1), an elementary pupil provided child care in a child care 4 home in accordance with section 237A.3 shall be entitled to 5 transportation to or from the child care home by the school 6 district of the school designated for attendance if the child 7 care home is more than two miles from the school designated 8 for attendance, and even if the home in which the pupil lives 9 is located two miles or less from the school designated for 10 attendance. For each semester of the school year in which the 11 child care home is used for purposes of subsection 9 rather 12 than the residence of the pupil, the pupil’s parent or guardian 13 shall submit in writing to the school designated for attendance 14 the address of the child care home designated by the parent or 15 guardian for transportation under this subparagraph. 16 EXPLANATION 17 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 18 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 19 This bill makes an elementary pupil eligible for school 20 transportation to or from the child care home providing child 21 care to the pupil if the child care home is within school 22 boundaries but more than two miles from the school designated 23 for attendance.
