H.F. 2060 Section 1. NEW SECTION . 70A.26A Volunteer emergency 1 services provider —— computation of overtime. 2 A state employee performing service as a volunteer emergency 3 services provider, as defined in section 100B.31, during the 4 state employee’s regularly scheduled work hours shall have any 5 hours of such service considered as hours worked as a state 6 employee for the purposes of determining overtime. 7 EXPLANATION 8 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 9 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 10 This bill provides that a state employee performing service 11 as a volunteer emergency services provider during work hours 12 shall have any hours of such service considered as hours 13 worked for the purposes of determining overtime. A volunteer 14 emergency services provider is defined, under Code section 15 100B.31, to include a volunteer fire fighter, an emergency 16 medical care provider, and a reserve peace officer. 17 -1- LSB 5642YH (2) 87 ec/rn 1/ 1
