H.F. 142 Section 1. Section 282.1, Code 2017, is amended by adding 1 the following new subsection: 2 NEW SUBSECTION . 3. For purposes of this section, “resident” 3 shall include a child who is physically present in a district 4 and is in the district for the purpose of participating in a 5 regionally, state, or nationally recognized athletic league if 6 the child provides the district with a written certification 7 from the athletic league that the child is participating in the 8 athletic league or will participate in the current or following 9 school year. 10 EXPLANATION 11 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 12 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 13 This bill provides that a child who is physically present 14 in a school district and is in the district for the purpose of 15 participating in a regionally, state, or nationally recognized 16 athletic league shall be considered a resident of that district 17 if the child provides the district with a written certification 18 from the athletic league that the child is participating in the 19 athletic league or will participate in the current or following 20 school year. 21 -1- LSB 2210YH (1) 87 je/sc 1/ 1
