1.
Section
298A.8,
Code
2017,
is
amended
to
read
as

follows:

Student
activity
fund.

1.
The
student
activity
fund
is
a
special
revenue
fund.

A
student
activity
fund
must
be
established
in
any
school
5
corporation
receiving
money
from
student-related
activities
6
such
as
admissions,
activity
fees,
student
dues,
student
7
fund-raising
events,
or
other
student-related
cocurricular
or
8
extracurricular
activities.
Moneys
in
this
fund
shall
be
used
9
to
support
only
the
cocurricular
program
defined
in
department
10
of
education
administrative
rules.

2.
For
school
budget
years
beginning
on
or
after
July
1,
12
2017,
the
board
of
directors
of
a
school
corporation
may,
13
by
board
resolution,
transfer
from
the
school
corporation’s
14
general
fund
to
the
student
activity
fund
an
amount
necessary
15
to
purchase
protective
and
safety
equipment
required
for
any
16
extracurricular
interscholastic
athletic
contest
or
competition
17
that
is
sponsored
or
administered
by
an
organization
as
defined
18
in
section
280.13.

Sec.
2.
EFFECTIVE
UPON
ENACTMENT.
This
Act,
being
deemed
of
20
immediate
importance,
takes
effect
upon
enactment.

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

Current
Code
section
298A.8
requires
a
student
activity
25
fund
to
be
established
in
any
school
corporation
receiving
26
moneys
from
student-related
activities
such
as
admissions,

activity
fees,
student
dues,
student
fund-raising
events,
28
or
other
student-related
cocurricular
or
extracurricular
29
activities.

fund
must
be
