House Concurrent Resolution 7 - Introduced HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 7 BY GASSMAN A Concurrent Resolution specifying a minimum number of 1 days for legislative secretary salary payments for 2 the eighty-seventh general assembly. 3 WHEREAS, legislative secretaries employed as clerks 4 for the members of the general assembly perform a vital 5 and valuable service in facilitating and expediting 6 the work of the members in an organized and efficient 7 manner; and 8 WHEREAS, 2017 Iowa Acts, Senate File 130 limits 9 the receipt by members of the eighty-seventh general 10 assembly of a per diem for expenses of office for the 11 first regular session convening in 2017 for a maximum 12 of 100 calendar days rather than 110 calendar days; and 13 WHEREAS, legislative secretaries will continue to 14 perform essential services for the members of the 15 general assembly until the date the general assembly 16 adjourns; and 17 WHEREAS, 2017 Iowa Acts, Senate Concurrent 18 Resolution 1 limits salary payments for secretaries to 19 32 hours per week but does not specifically state a 20 duration for such payments; NOW THEREFORE, 21 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, THE 22 SENATE CONCURRING, That legislative secretaries shall 23 be paid at a minimum for work on a weekly basis during 24 the first regular session of the eighty-seventh general 25 assembly through the last day of the session, or for 26 110 calendar days, whichever occurs earlier, and during 27 the second regular session through the last day of the 28 -1- LSB 2682YH (3) 87 rn/rj 1/ 2
