legislative
secretaries

as

the

perform
a

service
in

and
expediting

work

the
members
in
an
organized
and
efficient

manner;
and

WHEREAS,

receipt
by
members
of
the
eighty-seventh
general

assembly
of
a
per
diem
for
expenses
of
office
for
the

first
regular
session
convening
in
2017
for
a
maximum

of
100
calendar
days
rather
than

calendar
days;
and

WHEREAS,
legislative
secretaries
will
continue
to

perform
essential
services
for
the
members
of
the
15
general
assembly
until
the
date
the
general
assembly
16
adjourns;
and

WHEREAS,

Iowa

Concurrent

limits
salary
payments
for
secretaries
to

hours
per
week
but
does
not
specifically
state
a

duration
for
such
payments;
NOW
THEREFORE,

BE
IT
RESOLVED
BY
THE
HOUSE
OF
REPRESENTATIVES,
THE

SENATE
CONCURRING,
That
legislative
secretaries
shall

be
paid
at
a
minimum
for
work
on
a
weekly
basis
during
24
the
first
regular
session
of
the
eighty-seventh
general
25
assembly
through
the
last
day
of
the
session,
or
for

calendar
days,
whichever
occurs
earlier,
and
during
27
the
second
regular
session
through
the
last
day
of
the
