NEW SECTION . 70A.40 Elective public officer 1 contact information. 2 Within thirty days of an elective public officer swearing to 3 an oath of office, the governmental entity the officer serves 4 shall provide the officer with designated contact information 5 with the governmental entity. A governmental entity shall 6 cause to be published the contact information for each of 7 the entity’s elective public officers on an internet site 8 maintained by the entity. Additionally, an elective public 9 officer may provide the officer’s personal contact information 10 to the governmental entity to be published as provided in this 11 section for designated contact information. For the purposes 12 of this section “contact information” means a street address, a 13 telephone number, and an electronic mail address, and any other 14 electronic contact information. 15 EXPLANATION 16 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 17 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 18 This bill requires publication of contact information 19 for elective public officers on the internet site of the 20 governmental entity the officer serves. The bill requires that 21 the governmental entity provide the officer with designated 22 contact information and requires the governmental entity to 23 publish designated contact information for each of the entity’s 24 elective public officers on an internet site maintained by the 25 governmental entity.
