Section
1.
Section
229.13,
subsection
4,
Code
2015,
is

amended
to
read
as
follows:

4.
The
court
shall
furnish
to
the
chief
medical
officer
of
3
the
hospital
or
facility
at
the
time
the
respondent
arrives
at
4
the
hospital
or
facility
for
inpatient
or
outpatient
treatment
5
a
written
finding
of
fact
setting
forth
the
evidence
on
6
which
the
finding
is
based.
If
the
respondent
is
ordered
to
7
undergo
outpatient
treatment,
the
order
shall
also
require
the
8
respondent
to
cooperate
with
the
treatment
provider
and
comply
9
with
the
course
of
treatment
which
may
include
treatment
by
10
the
use
of
injectable
antipsychotic
medicine
if
recommended
11
by
the
examining
physician,
examining
physician
assistant,
or
12
examining
psychiatric
advanced
registered
nurse
practitioner,
13
but
only
to
the
extent
necessary
to
preserve
the
person’s
life
14
or
to
appropriately
control
behavior
by
the
person
which
is
15
likely
to
result
in
physical
injury
to
that
person
or
others
16
if
allowed
to
continue
.

subsection
2,
Code
2015,
is
amended

by
adding
the
following
new
paragraph:

A
court
order
for
treatment
of
the

respondent
on
an
outpatient
basis
under
this
section
may

include
treatment
by
the
use
of
injectable
antipsychotic

medicine
if
recommended
by
the
examining
physician,
examining

physician
assistant,
or
examining
psychiatric
advanced
24
registered
nurse
practitioner,
but
only
to
the
extent
necessary
25
to
preserve
the
person’s
life
or
to
appropriately
control
26
behavior
by
the
person
which
is
likely
to
result
in
physical
27
injury
to
that
person
or
others
if
allowed
to
continue.

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
provides
that
a
court
order
for
treatment
of
a

respondent
on
an
outpatient
basis
upon
the
conclusion
of
an

involuntary
hospitalization
hearing
may
include
treatment
by

the
use
of
injectable
antipsychotic
medicine
if
recommended
