Section
904.108,
Code
2015,
is
amended
by
adding
1
the
following
new
subsection:

SUBSECTION

In
addition
to
the
Iowa
medical

and
classification
center,
the
director
may
designate
any

other
unit
of
a
correctional
institution
to
also
serve
5
as
a
classification
unit
for
purposes
of
orientation
and
6
classification
before
placement
of
inmates
in
the
most
7
appropriate
correctional
institution.

Sec.
2.
Section
904.201,
subsection
4,
Code
2015,
is
amended

to
read
as
follows:

4.
The
classification
unit
,
or
any
other
unit
of
a
11
correctional
institution
designated
by
the
director,
shall
12
admit
inmates
for
purposes
of
orientation
and
classification
13
before
placement
in
the
most
appropriate
correctional
14
institutions.

This
bill
relates
to
the
designation
of
an
additional

classification
unit

the
department
of
corrections.

The
bill
specifies
that
in
addition
to
the
Iowa
medical

center,
the
director
of
the
department
of

corrections
may
designate

unit
of
a
correctional

institution
to
also
serve
as
a
classification
unit
for
purposes

of
orientation
and
classification
before
placement
of
