DEMENTIA
PROFICIENT
WORKFORCE
TASK
FORCE.
1
1.
The
departments
of
public
health,
aging,
human
services,
2
and
inspections
and
appeals
shall
form
a
collaborative
task
3
force
with
affected
industry,
educational,
professional,
and
4
consumer
groups,
persons
with
dementia,
and
family
members
of
5
persons
with
dementia
to
develop
standard
competency-based
6
dementia
curricula
and
training
models
for
all
individuals
7
delivering
direct
care
and
services
across
the
entire
spectrum
8
of
the
disease
and
through
the
continuum
of
care
in
all
9
settings
in
which
individuals
with
dementia
may
seek
services
10
and
care.
The
standards
shall
reflect
different
training
11
strategies
for
different
settings,
levels
of
skill,
and
12
licensure,
but
shall
provide
for
an
integrated
system
of
care
13
that
is
person-centered
and
coordinated.

2.
The
activities
of
the
task
force
shall
also
include:

a.
Reviewing
existing
educational
and
training
requirements
16
across
the
continuum
of
care,
reviewing
existing
dementia
17
proficiency
curricula,
and
determining
how
best
to
expand
and
18
utilize
the
existing
requirements
and
curricula
to
achieve
a
19
dementia
proficiency
across
a
broader
care
continuum.

Reviewing
research
and
evidence-based
best
practices
as
21
a
basis
for
development
of
a
dementia
proficient
workforce.

c.
Working
with
licensing
boards
and
establishing
23
educational
training
partnerships
to
support
certification,
24
licensure,
and
degree
programs
that
encourage
the
development
25
of
competency
in
the
provision
of
dementia
care
and
services.

d.
Determining
a
basic
level
of
dementia
training
for
all
27
trainees
in
health-related
fields
at
the
student,
residency,
28
and
ongoing
professional
levels.

e.
Reviewing
financial
incentives
for
individuals
providing
30
care
and
services
across
the
entire
spectrum
of
the
disease
to
31
diagnose,
treat,
coordinate
care
for,
and
provide
other
direct

services
for
individuals
with
dementia
and
their
caregivers.

Making
recommendations
regarding
mandatory

competency-based
training
for
individuals
in
specific
settings

task
force
shall
make
recommendations
to
the
governor

and
the
general
assembly
no
later
than
November
15,
2015.

This
bill
directs
the
departments
of
public
health,
10
aging,
human
services,
and
inspections
and
appeals
to
form
a
11
collaborative
task
force
with
affected
industry,
educational,
12
professional,
and
consumer
groups,
persons
with
dementia,
and
13
family
members
of
persons
with
dementia
to
develop
standard
14
competency-based
dementia
curricula
and
training
models
for
15
all
individuals
delivering
direct
care
and
services
across
16
the
entire
spectrum
of
the
disease
and
through
the
continuum
17
of
care
in
which
individuals
with
dementia
may
seek
services
18
and
care.
The
standards
are
to
reflect
different
training

for

skill,

but
must
provide

an

care

The
bill
also

force

undertake
activities

including:

requirements
across
the
continuum
of
care,
reviewing
existing

dementia
proficiency
curricula,
and
determining
how
best
to

expand
and
utilize
the
existing
requirements
and
curricula
to
27
achieve
a
dementia
proficiency
across
a
broader
care
continuum;

reviewing
research
and
evidence-based
best
practices
as
a
basis
29
for
development
of
a
dementia
proficient
workforce;
working
30
with
licensing
boards
and
establishing
educational
training
31
partnerships
to
support
certification,
licensure,
and
degree
32
programs
that
encourage
the
development
of
competency
in
the
33
provision
of
dementia
care
and
services;
determining
a
basic

level
of
dementia
training
for
all
trainees
in
health-related
