S.F. 443 Section 1. NEW SECTION . 70A.40 Elective public officer 1 contact information. 2 1. Within thirty days of an elective public officer swearing 3 to an oath of office, the governmental entity the officer 4 serves shall provide the officer with designated contact 5 information with the governmental entity. A governmental 6 entity shall cause to be published the contact information for 7 each of the entity’s elective public officers on an internet 8 site maintained by the entity. An elective public officer may 9 provide additional contact information that would normally 10 be used to make contact with the officer to the governmental 11 entity to be published as provided in this section for 12 designated contact information. 13 2. a. For the purposes of this section “contact 14 information” means a street address, a telephone number, and 15 an electronic mail address, and any other electronic contact 16 information. 17 b. For the purposes of this section, “elective public 18 officer” or “officer” means all of the following: 19 (1) Members of the general assembly. 20 (2) Members of a county board of supervisors. 21 (3) Members of a city council. 22 (4) Members of a board of directors of a school district. 23 EXPLANATION 24 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 25 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 26 This bill requires publication of contact information for 27 certain elective public officers, as defined in the bill, 28 on the internet site of the governmental entity the officer 29 serves. The bill requires that the governmental entity 30 provide the officer with designated contact information and 31 requires the governmental entity to publish designated contact 32 information for each of the entity’s elective public officers 33 on an internet site maintained by the governmental entity. 34 The bill also allows an elective public officer to provide 35 -1- LSB 2319SV (2) 86 aw/sc 1/ 2
