Section 256.7, subsection 32, paragraph c, 1 subparagraph (4), Code 2015, is amended by striking the 2 subparagraph. 3 EXPLANATION 4 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 5 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 6 Current law requires the state board of education to adopt 7 rules for online learning, including rules prohibiting the 8 open enrollment of students whose educational instruction and 9 course content are delivered primarily over the internet. An 10 exception to that prohibition requires the board to adopt rules 11 allowing such enrollment, with limitations on how many students 12 may be enrolled statewide and per school district. The 13 exception also limits such open enrollment to the CAM community 14 school district or the Clayton Ridge community school district 15 until June 30, 2015. This exception to the prohibition of open 16 enrollment in online learning is repealed by its own terms July 17 1, 2015. 18 This bill strikes the repeal, allowing the exception to 19 remain in effect, but only as to the limitation relating to the 20 number of online learning students open enrolled statewide and 21 per school district. 22 -1- LSB 1074XS (3) 86 je/sc 1/ 1
