S.F. 2230 Section 1. COMMUNITY VIOLENCE TASK FORCE. 1 1. The attorney general shall establish a statewide 2 community violence task force to investigate violence in 3 communities, including gun violence, to review proposed 4 solutions to such violence, and to develop and make 5 recommendations for establishing safe communities free from 6 violence throughout the state. The members of the task force 7 shall include stakeholders in the criminal justice system, 8 community leaders, local government officials, and legislators. 9 2. The community violence task force shall submit a report 10 containing recommendations to the general assembly by January 11 15, 2017. 12 EXPLANATION 13 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 14 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 15 This bill provides that the attorney general shall establish 16 a community violence task force to investigate violence in 17 communities around the state, to review proposed solutions to 18 such violence, and to develop and make recommendations for 19 establishing safe communities free from violence throughout the 20 state. 21 The bill provides that the members of the task force shall 22 include stakeholders in the criminal justice system, community 23 leaders, local government officials, and legislators. 24 The bill requires the task force to submit a report 25 containing recommendations to the general assembly by January 26 15, 2017. 27 -1- LSB 5885XS (2) 86 jm/sc 1/ 1
