S.F. 2131 Section 1. Section 261.86, subsection 3, paragraph a, Code 1 2016, is amended to read as follows: 2 a. An eligible member of the national guard, attending an 3 institution as provided in subsection 1 , paragraph “d” , shall 4 not receive educational assistance under this section for more 5 than one hundred twenty semester, or the equivalent, credit 6 hours of undergraduate study. A national guard member who has 7 met the educational requirements for a baccalaureate degree is 8 ineligible for educational assistance under this section . 9 EXPLANATION 10 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 11 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 12 This bill establishes that the 120-hour limitation on 13 undergraduate credit hours under the national guard educational 14 assistance program applies to semester, or the equivalent, 15 credit hours. 16 -1- LSB 5637XS (3) 86 kh/sc 1/ 1
