S.F. 2053 Section 1. Section 481A.38, Code 2016, is amended by adding 1 the following new subsection: 2 NEW SUBSECTION . 4. The commission shall not restrict or 3 prohibit hunting on specific private property generally or for 4 the hunting of a particular wild animal, so long as the person 5 hunting on that property is otherwise qualified to hunt in 6 this state, purchases a valid hunting license that includes 7 the wildlife habitat fee and a valid hunting license for the 8 type of wild animal being hunted, if applicable, and adheres to 9 all municipal, county, state, and federal regulations that are 10 applicable to hunting and specifically applicable to the type 11 of wild animal being hunted, including but not limited to daily 12 limits, possession limits, shooting hours, methods of take, and 13 transportation of a carcass. 14 EXPLANATION 15 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 16 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 17 This bill provides that the natural resource commission 18 shall not restrict or prohibit hunting on specific private 19 property generally or for the hunting of a particular wild 20 animal, so long as the hunter is otherwise qualified to hunt in 21 this state, purchases a valid hunting license that includes the 22 wildlife habitat fee and a valid hunting license for the type 23 of wild animal being hunted, if applicable, and adheres to all 24 municipal, county, state, and federal regulations applicable to 25 the hunting and to the type of wild animal being hunted. 26 -1- LSB 5712XS (2) 86 av/nh 1/ 1
