amended
to
read
as
follows:

Establish
and
maintain
an
orientation
and

classification
center
at
the
Iowa
correctional
institution
for

women.

(2)
Establish
and
maintain
a
program
to
oversee
women’s
6
institutional
and
community
corrections
programs
and
to
provide
7
community
support
to
ensure
continuity
and
consistency
of
8
programs.
The
person
responsible
for
implementing
this
section
9
shall
report
to
the
director.

Section
904.202,
Code
2015,
is
amended
to
read
as
11
follows:

904.202
Intake
and
classification
center
centers
.

The
director
may
shall
provide
facilities
and
personnel
14
for
a
diagnostic
intake
and
classification
center
at
the
Iowa
15
medical
and
classification
center
and
at
the
Iowa
correctional
16
institution
for
women
.
The
work
of
the
each
center
shall
17
include
a
scientific
study
of
each
inmate,
the
inmate’s
career
18
and
life
history,
the
causes
of
the
inmate’s
criminal
acts
19
and
recommendations
for
the
inmate’s
custody,
care,
training,
20
employment,
and
counseling
with
a
view
to
rehabilitation
21
and
to
the
protection
of
society.
To
facilitate
the
work
22
of
the
each
center
and
to
aid
in
the
rehabilitation
of
the
23
inmates,
the
trial
judge,
prosecuting
attorney,
and
presentence
24
investigators
shall
furnish
the
director
with
any
previously
25
authorized
presentence
investigation
report
and
a
full
26
statement
of
facts
and
circumstances
attending
the
commission
27
of
the
offense
so
far
as
known
or
believed
by
them.
If
the
28
department
develops
and
utilizes
an
inmate
classification
29
system,
it
must,
within
a
reasonable
time,
present
evidence
30
from
independent
experts
as
to
the
effectiveness
and
validity
31
of
the
classification
system.
