H.F. _____ Section 1. Section 331.384, subsection 1, Code 2016, is 1 amended by adding the following new paragraph: 2 NEW PARAGRAPH . g. Proceed under this section to require 3 compliance with a county zoning regulation adopted by ordinance 4 under chapter 335. 5 EXPLANATION 6 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 7 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 8 Current Code section 331.384 authorizes a county to require 9 a property owner to abate specified public health and safety 10 hazards. If the property owner does not perform a required 11 action within a reasonable time after notice, a county may 12 perform the required action and assess the costs against the 13 property for collection in the same manner as a property tax. 14 This bill amends Code section 331.384 by adding the authority 15 to proceed under that Code section to require compliance with 16 a county zoning regulation to the lists of public health and 17 safety hazards that counties may enforce under that Code 18 section. 19 -1- LSB 5437YC (1) 86 aw/sc 1/ 1
