S.F. _____ H.F. _____ Section 1. STATE COURT —— JUSTICES, JUDGES, AND 1 MAGISTRATES. 2 1. The salary rates specified in subsection 2 are for the 3 fiscal year beginning July 1, 2016, effective for the pay 4 period beginning July 1, 2016, and for subsequent fiscal years 5 until otherwise provided by the general assembly. The salaries 6 provided for in this section shall be paid from funds allocated 7 to the judicial branch from the salary adjustment fund, or if 8 the allocation is not sufficient, from funds appropriated to 9 the judicial branch pursuant to this Act or any other Act of 10 the general assembly. 11 2. The following annual salary rates shall be paid to the 12 persons holding the judicial positions indicated during the 13 fiscal year beginning July 1, 2016, effective with the pay 14 period beginning July 1, 2016, and for subsequent pay periods. 15 a. JUDICIAL BRANCH —— APPROPRIATION. There is 8 appropriated from the general fund of the state to the judicial 9 branch for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2016, and ending 10 June 30, 2017, the following amount, or so much thereof as is 11 necessary, to be used for the purposes designated: 12 For salaries for justices, judges, and magistrates: 13 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $ 2,264,325 14 EXPLANATION 15 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 16 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 17 This bill relates to annual salary rates for justices, 18 judges, and magistrates. 19 The bill provides annual salary rates to be paid the chief 20 justice and justices of the supreme court, the chief judge 21 and judges of the court of appeals, the chief judge of each 22 judicial district, district and district associate judges, 23 associate juvenile and associate probate judges, judicial 24 magistrates, and senior judges. The new salary rates become 25 effective for the pay period beginning July 1, 2016.
