to

.

If
a
governing
body,
a
county
board
of
supervisors,
or
a

city
council
has
procured
accident
or
health
care
coverage
for

its
employees
under
this
chapter
,
such
coverage
shall
permit
7
continuation
of
existing
coverage
or
reenrollment
in
previously
8
existing
coverage
for
an
individual
who
meets
the
requirements
9
of
section
513B.2,
subsection
14
,
paragraph
“a”
,
“b”
,
“c”
,
10
“d”
,
or
“e”
,
and
who
is
an
unmarried
child
of
an
insured
or
11
enrollee
who
so
elects,
at
least
through
the
policy
anniversary
12
date
on
or
after
the
date
the
child
marries,
ceases
to
be
a
13
resident
of
this
state,
or
attains
the
age
of
twenty-five
14
years
old,
whichever
occurs
first,
or
so
long
as
the
unmarried
15
child
maintains
full-time
status
as
a
student
in
an
accredited
16
institution
of
postsecondary
education
.

Sec.
2.
APPLICABILITY.
This
Act
applies
to
policies,
18
contracts,
or
plans
of
accident
or
health
care
coverage
19
delivered,
issued
for
delivery,
continued,
or
renewed
in
this
20
state,
on
or
after
January
1,
2016.

EXPLANATION
22
The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with
23
the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
relates
to
continuation
of
or
reenrollment
of
25
certain
dependents
of
public
employees
in
group
accident
or
26
health
care
coverage.
The
bill
deletes
a
provision
that
27
requires
such
group
accident
or
health
care
coverage
to
permit
28
an
unmarried
child
of
an
insured
public
employee
to
continue
29
or
reenroll
in
such
coverage
until
the
child
ceases
to
be
a
30
resident
of
this
state
or
attains
the
age
of
25
years
old,
31
whichever
occurs
first,
or
so
long
as
the
unmarried
child
is
a
32
full-time
student
in
an
accredited
institution
of
postsecondary
33
education.
Federal
law
currently
applies
to
group
health
care
34
coverage
of
certain
dependents.

the
bill
are
applicable
to

of

or
health
insurance
delivered,

issued

delivery,
continued,

renewed
in
this
state

pursuant
to
Code
chapter
509A
for
certain
public
employees
and

their
dependents,
on
or
after
January
1,
2016.
