H.F. _____ Section 1. Section 232.71B, subsection 17, Code 2015, is 1 amended to read as follows: 2 17. County attorney —— juvenile court. The department shall 3 provide the juvenile court and the county attorney with a copy 4 of the written child abuse assessment report , and the written 5 family assessment report for cases in which the department 6 requests a child in need of assistance petition, or other 7 reports for cases in which the department requests a child 8 in need of assistance petition . The juvenile court and the 9 county attorney shall notify the department of any action taken 10 concerning an assessment provided by the department. 11 EXPLANATION 12 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 13 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 14 An Act relating to the duties of the department of human 15 services relating to child abuse and family assessment reports 16 in child abuse cases. 17 Under current law, the department of human services is 18 required to provide the juvenile court and the county attorney 19 with a copy of the department’s written child abuse assessment 20 report, the department’s written family assessment report for 21 cases in which the department requests a child in need of 22 assistance petition, or other reports for cases in which the 23 department requests a child in need of assistance petition. 24 The bill provides that the department is required to provide 25 the juvenile court and the county attorney with a copy of 26 the written child abuse assessment report and the written 27 family assessment report, regardless of whether the department 28 has requested a child in need of assistance petition.
