Congress

repeal
legislation
impacting
and
limiting
the
use
of

incandescent
light
bulbs.

WHEREAS,
incandescent
light
bulbs
have
proven
to
be
4
a
safe,
dependable,
and
efficient
source
of
lighting
5
for
decades;
and
6
WHEREAS,
consumer
choice
and
consumer
freedom
is
an
7
important
component
of
our
free
market
system;
and
8
WHEREAS,
Congress
enacted
the
Energy
Independence
9
and
Security
Act
in
2007;
and
10
WHEREAS,
the
Act
imposed
regulations
that,
for
11
all
practical
purposes,
banned
the
use
of
standard
12
incandescent
light
bulbs
by
establishing
increased
13
minimum
energy
efficiency
standards
for
general
14
lamps;
and
15
WHEREAS,
too
often
the
federal
government
16
overregulates
industry,
resulting
in
increased
costs
to
17
businesses,
causing
the
loss
of
jobs
and
shifting
of
18
those
jobs
overseas,
hindering
market
efficiencies,
and
19
hampering
the
economy;
and
20
WHEREAS,
too
frequently
the
federal
government
21
overreaches
and
intrudes
into
citizens’
lives
and
22
imposes
its
will
and
ideas
about
what
is
deemed
23
best
upon
citizens,
thus
eroding
their
freedom;
NOW
24
THEREFORE,
25
BE
IT
RESOLVED
BY
THE
HOUSE
OF
REPRESENTATIVES,
That

the
House
of
Representatives
urges
Congress
to
repeal
27
provisions
in
the
Energy
Independence
and
Security
