House Resolution 37 - Introduced HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 37 BY NUNN A Resolution in support of the advancement, 1 construction, and integration of the F-35 Joint 2 Strike Fighter into our national military. 3 WHEREAS, to protect our country, our allies, and 4 our citizens, it is imperative to equip our military 5 defense forces with the most technologically advanced 6 weapons system available, the fifth-generation F-35 7 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter; and 8 WHEREAS, superior military equipment is crucial to 9 the safety of our troops and those they protect; and 10 WHEREAS, the F-35 program is integral to protecting 11 American interests and is a major stimulator of the 12 Iowa economy; and 13 WHEREAS, four companies across Iowa supply parts 14 and components for the F-35 program, supporting nearly 15 2,000 direct and indirect jobs, which in turn creates 16 an economic impact of more than $163 million that helps 17 support small businesses and promotes job growth; and 18 WHEREAS, the critical F-35 program empowers our 19 economy, our state, and, most importantly, our country 20 and those who fight to protect it; NOW THEREFORE, 21 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, That 22 the House of Representatives urges Iowa’s United States 23 senators and representatives to support and make known 24 their support for the advancement, construction, and 25 integration of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter into our 26 military; and 27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Chief Clerk of the 28 -1- LSB 2615HH (3) 86 ad/nh 1/ 2
