MILLER A Resolution honoring the service of Eric Swanson with 1 the Patriot Guard Riders. 2 WHEREAS, the Patriot Guard Riders is a volunteer 3 organization which serves and honors America’s fallen 4 military heroes, first responders, and honorably 5 discharged veterans by attending the funeral services 6 for fallen American heroes to honor their service, 7 their families, and their communities, and to ensure 8 the dignity and security of those services; and 9 WHEREAS, the Patriot Guard Riders also serve 10 veterans with special needs, their families, and the 11 community through fundraising and service projects; and 12 WHEREAS, Davenport resident Eric Swanson has served 13 as a Patriot Guard Rider since 2005 and has been a 14 Ride Captain since 2006, serving as a Ride Captain in 15 Illinois and as a Senior Ride Captain in Iowa; and 16 WHEREAS, Mr. Swanson served in the United States 17 Marine Corps, including tours of duty in Vietnam from 18 August 1969 to April 1973, and was awarded the Bronze 19 Star and four Purple Hearts; and 20 WHEREAS, Mr. Swanson leads over 100 Patriot Guard 21 missions a year by notifying those involved with a 22 funeral service, scouting a route, putting together the 23 details of the ceremony, and leading the Patriot Guard 24 to its destination; NOW THEREFORE, 25 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, 26 That the House of Representatives honors Eric Swanson 27 for his service as a Patriot Guard Ride Captain and 28 -1- LSB 1014HH (2) 86 nh/nh 1/ 2
