MILLER , THEDE , HUNTER , BENNETT , LENSING , COHOON , DAWSON , HEDDENS , BERRY , WOLFE , SANDS , GASSMAN , MOMMSEN , BRANHAGEN , HUSEMAN , KEARNS , OLDSON , HAGENOW , and COWNIE A Resolution recognizing and congratulating the Grand 1 View University Wrestling Team and program on its 2 outstanding achievements in National Association of 3 Intercollegiate Athletics wrestling. 4 WHEREAS, the 58th annual National Association of 5 Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Wrestling National 6 Championships were held March 6-7, 2015, in Topeka, 7 Kansas; and 8 WHEREAS, the Grand View University Wrestling Team 9 claimed two national champions and nine All-America 10 honors en route to 147.5 team points for the 11 championship title; and 12 WHEREAS, the national champion titles were won by 13 Ryak Finch at 125 pounds and Brandon Wright at 141 14 pounds, each winning their second national title; and 15 WHEREAS, the All-America honors were bestowed on 16 Ryak Finch and Brandon Wright, and on Jacob Colon 17 (fourth place at 133 pounds), Gustavo Martinez (fourth 18 place at 149 pounds), Dallas Houchins (fourth place 19 at 157 pounds), Jimmie Schuessler (third place at 165 20 -1- LSB 2610HH (6) 86 rn/nh 1/ 2
H.R. 27 pounds), Thomas Moman (fourth place at 174 pounds), 1 Christian Mays (sixth place at 184 pounds), and Dean 2 Broghammer (fourth place at 285 pounds); and 3 WHEREAS, Gustavo Martinez and Jimmie Schuessler 4 earned All-America honors for the fourth time in their 5 wrestling careers; and 6 WHEREAS, winning the championship title marked the 7 Vikings’ fourth consecutive NAIA Wrestling National 8 Championship; and 9 WHEREAS, with this victory the Vikings became only 10 the second wrestling team in NAIA history to win four 11 consecutive championship titles; and 12 WHEREAS, Head Coach Nick Mitchell has been voted 13 NAIA National Coach of the Year three times during his 14 seven-year career; NOW THEREFORE, 15 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, 16 That the House of Representatives recognizes and 17 congratulates the Grand View University Wrestling Team 18 and program on its outstanding achievements in National 19 Association of Intercollegiate Athletics wrestling; and 20 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this 21 Resolution be sent to Grand View University Wrestling 22 Team Head Coach Mitchell and Grand View University 23 President Kent Henning. 24 -2- LSB 2610HH (6) 86 rn/nh 2/ 2
