WHEREAS,
Iowa
women
of
every
race,
class,
and

ethnic
background
have
made
historic
contributions
to
4
the
growth
and
strength
of
our
state
and
nation
in
5
countless
recorded
and
unrecorded
ways;
and
6
WHEREAS,
Iowa
women
have
played
and
continued
to
7
play
critical
economic,
cultural,
and
social
roles
in
8
our
state;
and
9
WHEREAS,
Iowa
women
were
particularly
important
in
10
the
establishment
of
early
charitable,
philanthropic,
11
and
cultural
institutions
in
our
state
and
nation;
and
12
WHEREAS,
Iowa
women
and
men
amended
the
Iowa
13
Constitution
to
provide
that
all
men
and
women
are,
by
14
nature,
free
and
equal,
and
have
certain
inalienable
15
rights;
and
16
WHEREAS,
Iowa
women
have
been
leaders
in
business,
17
industry,
and
academia,
as
well
as
in
the
abolitionist
18
movement,
the
emancipation
movement,
the
industrial
19
labor
movement,
the
civil
rights
movement,
and
the
20
women’s
suffrage
movement;
NOW
THEREFORE,
21
BE
IT
RESOLVED
BY
THE
HOUSE
OF
REPRESENTATIVES,
That
22
the
House
of
Representatives
designates
March
2015
as
23
Iowa
Women’s
History
Month
and
invites
the
citizens
of
24
Iowa
to
continue
to
discover
the
roles
that
Iowa
women
25
have
played
throughout
the
history
of
our
state
and
26
nation.
