House Resolution 117 - Introduced HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 117 BY ROGERS , BERRY , and SALMON A Resolution urging the United States Congress to 1 revise legislation impacting and limiting the use of 2 incandescent light bulbs. 3 WHEREAS, incandescent light bulbs have proven to be 4 a safe, dependable, and efficient source of lighting 5 for decades; and 6 WHEREAS, consumer choice and consumer freedom is an 7 important component of our free market system; and 8 WHEREAS, Congress enacted the Energy Independence 9 and Security Act in 2007; and 10 WHEREAS, the Act created regulations that, for 11 all practical purposes, banned the use of standard 12 incandescent light bulbs by establishing increased 13 minimum energy efficiency standards for general 14 lamps; and 15 WHEREAS, the overregulation of industry can result 16 in limitations on consumer choice and freedom; NOW 17 THEREFORE, 18 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, That 19 the House of Representatives urges Congress to revise 20 provisions in the Energy Independence and Security 21 Act of 2007 which impacted and limited the use of 22 incandescent light bulbs. 23 -1- LSB 6066YH (4) 86 gh/nh 1/ 1
