House Resolution 107 - Introduced HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 107 BY OURTH , HAGENOW , SMITH , BALTIMORE , and BAUDLER A Resolution honoring the Iowa State Patrol and 1 recognizing Iowa State Trooper Joseph William Long’s 2 meritorious service. 3 WHEREAS, on February 18, 2016, Iowa State Trooper 4 Joseph Long was stationed at the west checkpoint of the 5 Iowa State Capitol Building when he was dispatched to 6 Room G02 to respond to a report of an individual who 7 had collapsed; and 8 WHEREAS, upon arriving on the scene at 10:06 a.m. 9 and noticing an adult male lying on the floor with 10 blood coming from the back of his head, Trooper Long 11 immediately called for rescue, determined the victim 12 had no pulse, and began performing cardiopulmonary 13 resuscitation (CPR); and 14 WHEREAS, as a trained and certified emergency 15 medical technician, Trooper Long followed through with 16 a series of chest compressions and related procedures 17 that revived the victim, who has since made a full 18 recovery; and 19 WHEREAS, the Iowa House of Representatives stands 20 in honor of the Iowa State Patrol and its commitment 21 to excellence, and its many brave public servants who, 22 like Trooper Long, exemplify everything for which the 23 Iowa State Patrol has proudly stood since 1935: honor, 24 integrity, courage, and undaunted service to the people 25 of Iowa; NOW THEREFORE, 26 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, 27 That Iowa State Trooper Joseph William Long deserves 28 -1- LSB 6065HH (4) 86 rn/rj 1/ 2
