Section
1.
Section
321.189,
Code
2015,
is
amended
by
adding
1
the
following
new
subsection:

NEW
SUBSECTION
.
9.
Other
military
service
status.
A
3
licensee
who
is
honorably
discharged
from
the
armed
forces
4
military
reserve
of
the
United
States
or
the
national
guard
of
5
any
state
who
served
on
active
duty
other
than
training
may
6
request
that
the
license
be
marked
to
reflect
the
licensee’s
7
military
service
status.
Upon
such
a
request,
an
emblem
8
honoring
the
licensee’s
service
shall
be
marked
prominently
on
9
the
face
of
the
license.
The
emblem
shall
be
designed
by
the
10
department
in
cooperation
with
the
adjutant
general
and
shall
11
signify
the
reserve
forces
or
national
guard
service
status
of
12
the
licensee.
Such
a
license
shall
be
issued
only
upon
receipt
13
of
satisfactory
proof
of
military
service
status
pursuant
to
14
procedures
established
by
the
department
in
consultation
with
15
the
department
of
veterans
affairs.

Section
321.190,
subsection
1,
paragraph
b,
Code

2015,
is
amended
by
adding
the
following
new
subparagraph:

A
nonoperator’s
identification
card

issued
to
a
person
honorably
discharged
from
the
armed
forces
20
military
reserve
of
the
United
States
or
the
national
guard
of
21
any
state
who
satisfies
the
requirements
of
section
321.189,

subsection
9,
shall
contain
the
same
information
as
any
other
23
nonoperator’s
identification
card
except
the
emblem
designed
24
pursuant
to
section
321.189,
subsection
9,
shall
appear
25
prominently
on
the
face
of
the
card.

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

Current
law
provides
for
the
recognition
of
veteran
status

on
the
driver’s
licenses
and
nonoperator’s
identification

cards
of
honorably
discharged
veterans
of
the
armed
forces
of

the
United
States.
The
bill
provides
for
the
recognition
of

reserve
forces
or
national
guard
service
status
on
the
driver’s

licenses
and
nonoperator’s
identification
cards
of
honorably

served

The
license
