35A.19
Veterans’
business
database.
1
1.
The
department
and
the
economic
development
authority
2
shall
jointly
establish
and
maintain
a
public,
searchable
3
database
of
businesses
in
Iowa
which
are
fifty-one
percent
4
or
more
owned,
operated,
and
actively
managed
by
one
or
more
5
veterans.

2.

The
department
and
the
economic
development
authority
7
shall
obtain
the
consent
of
the
business
before
listing
the
8
business
or
information
about
the
business
on
the
database.

b.
The
business
may
volunteer
information
to
be
included
10
on
the
database.
The
department
and
the
economic
development

authority
shall
verify
the
accuracy
of
the
information
and
12
verify
the
business
meets
the
requirements
of
subsection
1

before
including
the
business
on
the
database.

The
department
and
the
economic
development
authority

shall
update
the
database
on
at
least
a
quarterly
basis
to

determine
that
a
business
listed
on
the
database
meets
the

requirements
of
subsection
1.

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
requires
the
Iowa
department
of
veterans
affairs
22
and
the
Iowa
economic
development
authority
to
establish
and
23
maintain
a
database
of
businesses
in
Iowa
owned
by
veterans.
24
The
bill
provides
that
the
department
of
veterans
affairs
and
25
the
economic
development
authority
shall
update
the
database
26
on
a
quarterly
basis.
The
bill
requires
the
department
and
27
economic
development
authority
to
obtain
the
consent
of
the
28
business
before
including
the
business
or
the
business’s
29
information
on
the
database.
The
bill
allows
businesses
to
30
volunteer
information
to
be
included
on
the
database,
and
the
31
department
and
the
economic
development
authority
shall
add
32
that
information
after
verifying
its
accuracy.
