Section
260C.48,
subsection
2,
Code
2015,
is

amended
to
read
as
follows:

2.
Standards
developed
shall
include
a
provision
that
the
3
following
provisions:

a.
The
full-time
teaching
load
for
an
instructor
in
5
arts
and
sciences
courses
shall
be
fifteen
credit
hours
6
per
semester,
or
the
equivalent,
and
the
maximum
academic
7
workload
shall
be
sixteen
credit
hours
per
semester,
or
the
8
equivalent.
An
instructor
in
arts
and
sciences
courses
may
9
also
have
an
additional
teaching
assignment
if
the
instructor
10
and
the
community
college
administration
mutually
consent
to
11
the
additional
assignment
and
the
total
teaching
load
does
12
not
exceed
twenty-two
hours
of
credit
per
semester,
or
the
13
equivalent.

b.
The
full-time
teaching
load
for
an
instructor
in
15
career
and
technical
courses
shall
not
exceed
an
aggregate
of
16
thirty-five
hours
per
week
or
the
equivalent.
An
instructor
17
in
career
and
technical
courses
may
also
have
an
additional
18
teaching
assignment
if
the
instructor
and
the
community
college
19
administration
mutually
consent
to
the
additional
assignment
20
and
the
total
teaching
load
per
week
does
not
exceed
forty

hours
or
the
equivalent.

EXPLANATION

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
authorizes
community
college
career
and
technical
26
course
instructors
to
carry
a
full-time
teaching
load
of
27
generally
not
more
than
35
credit
hours
per
week.
However,
an
28
additional
teaching
assignment
may
be
added
if
the
instructor
29
and
the
community
college
administration
mutually
consent
to
30
the
additional
assignment
and
the
total
teaching
load
does
not
31
exceed
40
hours
per
week
or
the
equivalent.
