H.F. 2287 Section 1. Section 216B.2, Code 2016, is amended to read as 1 follows: 2 216B.2 Commission created. 3 1. The commission for the blind is established consisting 4 of three five members appointed by the governor, subject to 5 confirmation by the senate. At least three members of the 6 commission shall be persons who are blind, at least one member 7 shall be a representative of the Iowa council of the united 8 blind, and at least one member shall be a representative of the 9 national federation of the blind of Iowa. 10 2. Members of the commission shall serve three-year terms 11 beginning and ending as provided in section 69.19 . The 12 commission shall adopt rules concerning programs and services 13 for blind persons provided under this chapter . 14 3. Commission members shall be reimbursed for actual 15 expenses incurred in performance of their duties. Members may 16 also be eligible to receive compensation as provided in section 17 7E.6 . The members of the commission shall appoint officers for 18 the commission. A majority of the members of the commission 19 shall constitute a quorum. 20 EXPLANATION 21 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 22 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 23 This bill increases the number of members on the commission 24 for the blind from three to five.
