There is appropriated from the general fund of the 3 state to the economic development authority for the fiscal year 4 beginning July 1, 2016, and ending June 30, 2017, the following 5 amount, or so much thereof as is necessary, to be used for the 6 purposes designated: 7 To provide grants to main street communities under the main 8 street Iowa program for nonprofit farmers’ market associations 9 to incentivize supplemental nutrition assistance program (SNAP) 10 participants to spend their benefits on fresh fruits and 11 vegetables at farmers’ markets across the state: 12 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $ 75,000 13 A grant application submitted by a main street community 14 shall contain a commitment of a 25 percent match of the grant 15 assistance. Grant moneys shall not be used for administrative 16 purposes. 17 EXPLANATION 18 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 19 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 20 This bill appropriates $75,000 from the general fund of the 21 state to the economic development authority for the fiscal 22 year beginning July 1, 2016, and ending June 30, 2017, to 23 provide grants to main street communities under the main street 24 Iowa program for nonprofit farmers’ market associations to 25 incentivize supplemental nutrition assistance program (SNAP) 26 participants to spend their benefits on fresh fruits and 27 vegetables at farmers’ markets across the state.
