H.F. 2239 Section 1. Section 321.194, subsection 1, paragraph a, Code 1 2016, is amended by adding the following new subparagraph: 2 NEW SUBPARAGRAPH . (03) During the hours of 5:00 a.m. 3 to 10:00 p.m. over the most direct and accessible route 4 between the licensee’s residence or school of enrollment and 5 a private facility, within or contiguous to the licensee’s 6 district of residence, that the licensee’s school or district 7 has contracted with for the purpose of providing practice 8 or competition facilities for the school’s extracurricular 9 activities. 10 Sec. 2. Section 321.194, subsection 1, paragraph a, 11 subparagraph (3), Code 2016, is amended to read as follows: 12 (3) To a service station for the purpose of refueling, so 13 long as the service station is the station closest to the route 14 the licensee is traveling on under subparagraph (1) , or (2) , 15 or (03) . 16 EXPLANATION 17 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 18 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 19 Under current law, the holder of a special minor’s driver’s 20 license may travel between the licensee’s residence or 21 school of enrollment and another school for the purpose of 22 participating in extracurricular activities. 23 This bill allows the holder of a special minor’s driver’s 24 license to also travel between the licensee’s residence 25 or school of enrollment and a private facility, within or 26 contiguous to the licensee’s district of residence, that the 27 licensee’s school or district has contracted with for the 28 purpose of providing practice or competition facilities for the 29 school’s extracurricular activities. 30 -1- LSB 5514YH (1) 86 ns/nh 1/ 1
