H.F. 221 Section 1. NEW SECTION . 1C.17 Iowa Constitution Day. 1 The governor of this state is hereby authorized and 2 requested to issue annually a proclamation designating the 3 fifth day of March as “Iowa Constitution Day” and to encourage 4 all governmental entities, civic organizations, schools, and 5 institutions of higher education in the state to observe the 6 day in a manner that emphasizes the meaning and importance of 7 the Iowa Constitution and to encourage reading and studying the 8 Iowa Constitution on or about that date. 9 EXPLANATION 10 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 11 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 12 This bill designates March 5 of each year as Iowa 13 Constitution Day.
