H.F. 2172 Section 1. Section 321.345, Code 2016, is amended to read 1 as follows: 2 321.345 Stop or yield at highways. 3 The department, based on an engineering study, with 4 reference to primary highways, and local authorities with 5 reference to other highways under their jurisdiction may 6 designate through highways and erect stop signs or yield 7 signs, in accordance with specifications established by 8 the department at specified entrances to the highway or may 9 designate any intersection as a stop intersection or as a yield 10 intersection and erect like signs at one or more entrances 11 to such intersection. A local authority may erect stop or 12 yield signs pursuant to this section without performing an 13 engineering study. 14 EXPLANATION 15 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 16 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 17 This bill provides that a local authority may erect a stop 18 or yield sign at an intersection under the local authority’s 19 jurisdiction without performing an engineering study. 20 -1- LSB 5739YH (1) 86 ns/nh 1/ 1
