H.F. 2125 Section 1. Section 321.285, subsection 3, Code 2016, is 1 amended to read as follows: 2 3. Unless otherwise provided in this section or by other 3 speed restrictions, the speed limit for all vehicular traffic 4 shall be fifty-five miles per hour , except if the road is a 5 primary or secondary road surfaced with concrete or asphalt, 6 or a combination of both, that is located in a geographic 7 area that is not part of a federally designated standard 8 metropolitan statistical area, in which case the speed limit 9 shall be sixty miles per hour . 10 EXPLANATION 11 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 12 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 13 Current law provides that the speed limit on all roads, 14 other than roads located in business, residential, school, or 15 suburban districts, certain secondary roads not paved with 16 concrete or asphalt, and divided multilaned highways, shall be 17 55 miles per hour. 18 This bill provides that the speed limit on a primary or 19 secondary road surfaced with concrete or asphalt that is 20 located in a geographic area that is not part of a federally 21 designated standard metropolitan statistical area shall be 60 22 miles per hour. 23 -1- LSB 5566YH (4) 86 ns/nh 1/ 1
