amended
to
read

as
follows:

481A.57
Possession
and
storage.

A
person
having
lawful
possession
of
game
or
fur-bearing

animals
or
their
pelts
,
except
deer
venison,
may
hold
them
for
5
not
to
exceed
thirty
days
after
the
close
of
the
open
season
6
for
such
game
or
furbearers.
A
person
having
lawful
possession
7
of
deer
venison
which
is
lawfully
taken
by
that
person
with
8
a
valid
deer
hunting
or
trapping
license,
may
hold
,
possess,
9
or
store
the
deer
venison
game
or
fur-bearing
animals
or
their
10
pelts
from
the
date
of
taking
until
the
following
September

From
September
1
until
the
first
day
of
the
next
deer
open
12
season
for
which
the
person
holds
a
valid
deer
hunting
license,
13
the
person
shall
not
possess
more
than
twenty-five
pounds
of
14
deer
venison.
Any
person
may
possess
up
to
twenty-five
pounds
15
of
deer
venison
if
the
deer
was
obtained
from
a
lawful
source.

A
permit
to
hold
for
a
longer
period
may
be
granted
by
the
17
department.

EXPLANATION

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
provides
that
a
person
having
lawful
possession
22
of
game
or
fur-bearing
animals
or
their
pelts
lawfully
taken
23
by
that
person
with
a
valid
hunting
or
trapping
license
may
24
hold,
possess,
or
store
them
from
the
date
of
taking.
The
bill
25
retains
current
law
allowing
any
person
to
possess
up
to
25
26
pounds
of
deer
venison
if
the
deer
was
obtained
from
a
lawful
27
source.
The
scheduled
fine
for
a
violation
of
the
bill’s
28
provisions
is
$100.

Currently,
a
person
having
lawful
possession
of
game
or
30
fur-bearing
animals
or
their
pelts
may
hold
them
for
not
to
31
exceed
30
days
after
the
close
of
the
open
season
for
such
game
32
or
furbearers.
For
deer
venison,
a
person
may
hold
any
amount
33
of
venison
taken
with
a
valid
hunting
license,
from
the
date
34
of
taking
until
the
following
September
1.
