There is appropriated from the general fund of the 3 state to the department of public defense for the fiscal year 4 beginning July 1, 2015, and ending June 30, 2016, the following 5 amount, or so much thereof as is necessary, to be used for the 6 purposes designated: 7 For the Iowa junior reserve officers’ training corps cadet 8 leadership challenge to be held at Camp Dodge in June 2016, for 9 transportation, personnel, and all other necessary expenses: 10 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $ 50,000 11 Sec. 2. EFFECTIVE UPON ENACTMENT. This Act, being deemed of 12 immediate importance, takes effect upon enactment. 13 EXPLANATION 14 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 15 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 16 This bill appropriates $50,000 to the department of public 17 defense from the general fund of the state for FY 2015-2016 18 for purposes of providing transportation, personnel, and all 19 other necessary expenses for the junior reserve officers’ 20 training corps cadet leadership challenge to be held at Camp 21 Dodge in June 2016. The junior reserve officers’ training 22 corps is designed to teach high school students the value of 23 citizenship, leadership, service to the community, personal 24 responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment, while instilling 25 in them self-esteem, teamwork, and self-discipline. The Iowa 26 junior reserve officers’ training corps cadet leadership 27 challenge is an annual leadership program for Iowa high school 28 students enrolled in the junior reserve officers’ training 29 corps program. 30 The bill takes effect upon enactment. 31 -1- LSB 5145YH (2) 86 gh/rj 1/ 1
