H.F. 129 Section 1. NEW SECTION . 321.447 Nitrous oxide systems 1 prohibited. 2 A person shall not operate a motor vehicle on the highways 3 of this state if the vehicle is equipped with a system that 4 supplies the vehicle’s combustion engine with nitrous oxide 5 unless the system is disconnected from the combustion engine. 6 A violation of this section is a simple misdemeanor punishable 7 by a scheduled fine under section 805.8A, subsection 3. 8 Sec. 2. Section 805.8A, subsection 3, Code 2015, is amended 9 by adding the following new paragraph: 10 NEW PARAGRAPH . am. Section 321.447 . . . . $100. 11 EXPLANATION 12 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 13 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 14 This bill prohibits the operation of a motor vehicle on the 15 highways of this state if the vehicle is equipped with a system 16 that supplies the vehicle’s combustion engine with nitrous 17 oxide unless the system is disconnected from the combustion 18 engine. 19 The bill provides a scheduled fine for a violation of this 20 provision of $100. 21 -1- LSB 1778YH (5) 86 ns/nh 1/ 1
