H.F. 127 Section 1. Section 257.10, subsection 10, Code 2015, is 1 amended by adding the following new paragraph: 2 NEW PARAGRAPH . e. For the school budget year beginning 3 July 1, 2016, and succeeding budget years, a school district 4 approved pursuant to chapter 284 to receive funding from the 5 teacher leadership supplement under subsection 12 of this 6 section shall not be eligible to receive funding from the 7 professional development supplement under this subsection for 8 the same budget year. 9 EXPLANATION 10 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 11 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 12 Current Code section 257.10(10) establishes a professional 13 development funding supplement for school districts. The 14 funding received pursuant to the professional development 15 supplement is required to be used to provide quality 16 professional development opportunities pursuant to Code chapter 17 284. Code section 257.10(12) establishes a teacher leadership 18 funding supplement for school districts. The use of the 19 funds from the teacher leadership supplement is required to 20 comply with the requirements of Code chapter 284 and must be 21 distributed to teachers pursuant to Code section 284.15. 22 This bill provides that for the school budget year beginning 23 July 1, 2016, and succeeding budget years, a school district 24 approved pursuant to Code chapter 284 to receive funding from 25 the teacher leadership supplement shall not be eligible to 26 receive funding from the professional development supplement 27 for the same budget year. 28 -1- LSB 1776YH (3) 86 md/sc 1/ 1
