Code
2015,
is
amended
by
adding
1
the
following
new
subsection:

NEW
SUBSECTION
.
20.
Adopt
criteria
for
the
establishment
3
and
issuance
of
an
endorsement
for
academic
coaching.
Such
4
criteria
shall
be
developed
in
cooperation
with
practitioner
5
preparation
programs
and
shall
include
but
not
be
limited
6
to
successful
completion
of
coursework
which
prepares
an
7
individual
to
understand
and
be
able
to
apply
proven
learning
8
strategies,
to
analyze
a
student’s
concerns
and
perceived
9
barriers
to
academic
success,
to
implement
the
knowledge
10
and
strategies
proven
to
improve
student
self-efficacy
and
11
confidence
in
the
student’s
learning
environment,
and
to
work
12
with
other
practitioners
to
improve
a
student’s
academic
13
performance
and
progress.

EXPLANATION

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with
16
the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
authorizes
the
board
of
educational
examiners
18
to
adopt
criteria
for
the
establishment
and
issuance
of
an
19
endorsement
for
academic
coaching
that
may
be
added
to
a
20
practitioner’s
license.
21
The
criteria
for
the
endorsement
must
be
developed
in
22
cooperation
with
approved
practitioner
preparation
programs
23
and
must
include
but
not
be
limited
to
successful
completion
24
of
coursework
relating
to
learning
strategies,
barriers
to
25
academic
success,
student
self-efficacy
and
confidence,
and
26
practitioners’
work
to
improve
student
academic
performance
and
27
progress.
