Exhaust
systems
-
noise
1
limitation.

1.
A
person
shall
not
operate
a
motor
vehicle
with
an

exhaust
system
that
produces
engine
noise
of
ninety-five
4
decibels
or
more
unless
the
person
has
reasonable
grounds
to
5
believe
that
the
operation
of
the
vehicle
will
not
result
6
in
the
vehicle’s
exhaust
system
producing
engine
noise
of
7
ninety-five
decibels
or
more.

2.
A
person
shall
not
modify
the
exhaust
system
of
a
motor
9
vehicle
to
produce
engine
noise
of
ninety-five
decibels
or
10
more.

3.
The
decibel
output
of
the
exhaust
system
of
a
motor
12
vehicle
shall
be
measured
at
a
distance
of
fifty
feet
in
a
13
manner
that
complies
with
the
standards
and
testing
procedures
14
established
by
the
society
of
automotive
engineers
under
SAE
15
J1492.

4.
This
section
does
not
apply
to
motorcycles.

5.
A
violation
of
this
section
is
a
simple
misdemeanor

punishable
by
a
scheduled
fine
under
section
805.8A,
subsection
19
3.

2015,
is
amended

bill
prohibits
a
person
from
operating
a
motor
vehicle

with
an
exhaust
system
that
produces
engine
noise
of
95

decibels
or
more
unless
the
person
has
reasonable
grounds
to

believe
that
the
operation
of
the
vehicle
will
not
result

in
the
vehicle’s
exhaust
system
producing
engine
noise
of

95
decibels
or
more.
The
bill
also
prohibits
a
person
from

modifying
the
exhaust
system
of
a
motor
vehicle
to
produce

engine
noise
of

decibels
or
more.
The
bill
provides
that
